DMEC Inc. provides accessible, community-based financial support services that help individuals and families build financial stability and long-term well-being.
Since 2020, the organization has assisted over 4,000 families, with a special focus on newcomers, low-income residents, gig workers, and underserved populations.
Core Service
Tax Filing Assistance (CVITP – Eligible Individuals & Families)
Through the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program, DMEC Inc. offers free, trusted tax filing support for eligible individuals with simple tax situations.
What We Support Under CVITP
- Simple personal income tax return filing only
- Assistance in accessing eligible federal and provincial benefits and credits
- Support for low-income individuals and households
- Support for newcomers to Canada, including culturally and linguistically appropriate guidance
- Support for seniors and other vulnerable populations
- Inclusive, non-discriminatory service for all community members, including LGBTQ+ individuals
- Confidential, accurate, and community-based service delivery
Additional Support (Outside CVITP Scope)
DMEC Inc. also provides separate financial guidance and referral support for individuals with more complex tax situations.
This may include:
- General guidance for self-employed individuals
- Information and referrals for small business tax filing
- Support in understanding tax obligations and compliance
Note:
Complex returns (including business income, significant deductions, or incorporated entities) are not completed under the CVITP program. Individuals requiring assistance with these situations may be referred to external professional tax preparers. Any such services are independent and may involve fees.
